Jesus Youth Movement Announces Priestly Ordination of Deacon Chris Colaco

The Jesus Youth Movement has announced with great joy and gratitude the priestly ordination of Deacon Chris Colaco, who will be ordained a priest for the Jesus Youth Movement and incardinated into the Diocese of Northampton, United Kingdom.

Born in Mangalore, India, and raised in London, United Kingdom, Chris is the only child of Cyril Colaco and Josephine Lasrado. After completing his A-Levels, he pursued studies in Philosophy and the Catholic Tradition at the Maryvale Institute in Birmingham.

Chris has been actively involved in the Jesus Youth Movement since 2010. In 2016, he responded to a call to mission as a full-time volunteer and was sent to Uganda. Two years later, he began his formal preparation for the priesthood, commencing his propaedeutic year at the Jesus Youth Community House in Kochi, Kerala.

He subsequently undertook two years of philosophical studies at Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram, Bengaluru, followed by a pastoral year in the United Kingdom. Chris completed his theological formation at St. Mary’s College, Oscott, Birmingham, where he earned the Sacred Theologiae Baccalaureate in December 2025 after four years of theological studies.

His ordination marks a significant milestone for the Jesus Youth Movement, as he becomes the sixth priest ordained for the movement. Members of the community have expressed profound gratitude to God for the gift of his vocation and have called upon the faithful to pray for a fruitful and grace-filled priestly ministry.
