Jesus Youth Launches Global “Sponsor A Square Foot” Campaign to Complete ABODE by 2027
Kochi, India:* The Jesus Youth International Office has announced the launch of a worldwide initiative titled “Sponsor A Square Foot” to support the completion of the second and final phase of *ABODE, the global home of the Jesus Youth movement. The campaign officially launches on *May 24, Pentecost Sunday, inviting Jesus Youth members across the world to take part in building what leaders describe as a shared spiritual and operational home for the movement.
Located in Kochi, ABODE serves as the central hub of the Jesus Youth movement, bringing together members from different countries under a common mission of faith and service. The first phase of the project was completed in 2021, while the second phase began in 2023. The project is now targeted for completion by mid-2027.
According to the International Office, the estimated cost for the second phase is *INR 6.95 crore (approximately USD 837,000). So far, *INR 3.50 crore (approximately USD 363,000) has been received, leaving INR 3.45 crore (approximately USD 358,000) still needed to complete the project.
Officials shared that construction progress has slowed due to funding limitations, as payments to contractors are made according to work completion. Sustained financial support, they said, is crucial to maintaining momentum and meeting the completion timeline.
Through the “Sponsor A Square Foot” initiative, members are invited to sponsor portions of the building at an estimated cost of INR 4,500 / USD 48 / GBP 35 / EUR 40 per square foot. Participants may contribute in a single payment or choose equal instalments over a period of up to one year.
The campaign is being launched on Pentecost Sunday, a day of special significance for Jesus Youth communities worldwide as members renew their commitment and fidelity to the movement.
Country Coordinators across nations have been requested to support the campaign by incorporating a seven-minute ABODE project presentation during Commitment Day programs, displaying campaign posters, and ensuring the initiative reaches local, regional, and national communities.
In its message to members, the International Office emphasized that ABODE is more than a building project, describing it as “a home built not just with bricks, but with the prayers and sacrifices of Jesus Youth from every corner of the world.”
Quoting *2 Corinthians 9:7, the office reiterated the spirit behind the campaign: *“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
