Former Jesus Youth Ernakulam Teens Coordinator Receives Religious Habit and New Name
Maria Francisca, former Coordinator of the Jesus Youth Ernakulam Teens Ministry, has taken a significant step in her religious vocation by receiving the religious habit at St. Joseph’s Discalced Carmelite Monastery (Mindtamadam). She has been given the religious name Sr. Charbel Mariam of the Cross.
The name honours St. Charbel Makhlouf, the renowned Lebanese saint known for his profound life of prayer, penance, and solitude. St. Charbel spent the last 16 years of his life as a hermit, and following his death, an extraordinary light was reported to have emanated from his tomb for 45 days. He is widely known as the saint of extraordinary miracles, with more than 30,000 miracles attributed to his intercession.
Sr. Charbel Mariam now begins a two-year novitiate, a period of intensive spiritual formation and preparation for religious life.
Her superiors shared that the formation she received through Jesus Youth has been a great strength in her vocation, helping her embrace the contemplative Carmelite way of life with joy and perseverance.
The Jesus Youth Ernakulam Teens Ministry lovingly requests the prayers of the entire community for Sr. Charbel Mariam as she begins this important phase of her journey with the Lord.
