Annamma Mathew Passes Away; Funeral to Be Held on July 24 at Chembalam

KATTAPPANA: Annamma Mathew (74), wife of senior Charismatic leader, Jesus Youth animator, and renowned farmer Jose Vattakuzhy, passed away on July 21, 2026.

Jose Vattakuzhy has been a pillar of the Jesus Youth movement for several decades, dedicating his life to spiritual formation, evangelization, and community service in the Kattappana region. Annamma Mathew was an active partner in this mission. She served as a Jesus Youth campus animator for two terms and wholeheartedly supported the movement’s initiatives. For many years, the Jesus Youth prayer meetings of MES College were held at their home, which became a place of fellowship, prayer, and formation for countless young people.

She is survived by her husband, Jose Vattakuzhy, and their children, Tony Jose, Titto M. Jose, and Tippu Jose.

The Jesus Youth movement joins the Vattakuzhy family in mourning the loss of Annamma Mathew and gratefully remembers her life of faith, generosity, and dedicated service. With deep sorrow, we bid farewell to Gracy Annamma, the beloved wife of Jose Vattakuzhy, a man who loved the Jesus Youth movement wholeheartedly, supported countless full-timers, and helped many grow in the love of God through the Charismatic Renewal.

Behind Jose chettan’s tireless leadership in proclaiming the Kingdom of God stood Aunty, quietly supporting and strengthening the mission in every possible way.

When the first Campus Team was formed in the Idukki Zone, our monthly team gatherings were held at the homes of George Sir and Jose chettan. It was the aunties in these homes who lovingly prepared delicious meals for all of us. Those were also the homes where we always felt safest and most cared for. The families of Jose chettan and George Sir played a significant role in nurturing the growth of the Campus Team in the Idukki and Kattappana zones.

From the very first batch of full-timers, their home became a place of refuge and welcome for countless Jesus Youth members. The MES College prayer group initially met at George Sir’s house, and after he moved away, it continued at Jose chettan’s home.

Aunty generously opened her home to Jesus Youth, served meals to innumerable young people, and filled their lives with warmth, love, and motherly care. Her hospitality and selfless service touched the lives of so many.

മരണം കൊണ്ട് ആരും വിശുദ്ധരാകുന്നില്ലാ എന്ന് ഒരു പറച്ചിലുണ്ട് പക്ഷേ ഗ്രേസ്സി ചേച്ചി വിശുദ്ധയാണ് എന്ന കാര്യത്തിൽ ഒരു സംശയവും വേണ്ട നെടുംങ്കണ്ടം താലൂക്ക് ആശുപത്രിയിൽ നേഴ്സിങ്ങ് സൂപ്രണ്ടായി ജോലി നോക്കിയിരുന്നപ്പം ശബളം വീട്ടിൽ കൊണ്ടുപോകാൻ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു പാവപ്പെട്ട രോഗികൾക്ക് ഭക്ഷണവും മരുന്നും വസ്ത്രവും എല്ലാം വാങ്ങി കൊടുത്തിരുന്നു ഇന്ന് ചിലർ ചെയ്യുന്നത് പോലെ എന്തെങ്കിലും ഒക്കെ ചെയ്തിട്ട് അത് സോഷ്യൽ മീഡീയായിലും മറ്റും ഇട്ട് എന്തോ വലിയ കാര്യം ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്ന് വരുത്തി തീർക്കാൻ ഗ്രേസി ചേച്ചി നിന്നില്ലാ ചെയ്യുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങൾ ആരോടും പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നില്ല ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിൽ മാത്രമല്ല ആർക്കെങ്കിലും സഹായങ്ങൾ വേണ്ടി വന്നാൽ യാതൊരു മടിയും കൂടാതെ ചെയ്തിരുന്നു ഇതിനെ ആണ് മനുഷ്യ സ്നേഹം എന്ന് പറയുന്നത് അന്ന് ഇന്നത്തെ പോലെ വലിയ നിലയിലൊന്നുമല്ലാ എങ്കിലും ഇന്ന് മക്കളും മരുമക്കളും എല്ലാം വിദേശത്തും വലിയ ബാബത്തിക നിലയിലും ആയി അന്ന് കൈ അയഞ്ഞ് സഹായിച്ചപ്പോൾ ദൈവം തബുരാൻ അങ്ങ് വളർത്തി അസുഖം ബാധിച്ച് മരിച്ചു എങ്കിലും ആയിരങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാർത്ഥന ഉണ്ടാകും
