Dr. Joe Jose Ordained to the Permanent Diaconate in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG, CANADA — Dr. Joe Jose, a physician and one of the pioneers of Jesus Youth movement in canada , was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate on Saturday, September 26, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The solemn ordination liturgy took place at 10:00 AM local time (8:30 PM IST). Broadcast live across digital platforms, the service drew family, friends, clergy, and members of the international Jesus Youth fellowship together in prayer and celebration.

Dr. Jose’s journey of faith and leadership began during his medical training at Government Medical College, Kottayam, Kerala, where he was an active member of the early Jesus Youth movement. During those formative years, he and fellow medical colleagues played a vital role in establishing and guiding the Jesus Youth Nurses Ministry.

After moving to Canada, Dr. Jose became instrumental in establishing the Jesus Youth movement in the country. Based in Winnipeg, he and his family have been deeply involved in community building and missionary outreach across Western Canada.

He is married to Julie, an engineer and former Jesus Youth full-time volunteer. Together with their five children, the family has long been regarded as a pillar of Christian witness and service within the local and wider community.
Congratulating the newly ordained deacon, Benson Mendez, National Coordinator of Jesus Youth Canada, described the milestone as a profound moment of grace for the Church.

“Together with his wife, Julie, and their five children, he has faithfully served the Lord and His Church from Winnipeg,” Mendez stated. “Over the years, he has generously dedicated his time and gifts to building the Kingdom of God and nurturing the Jesus Youth community, particularly through missionary outreach across Western Canada. We thank God for the gift of his vocation and for his generous ‘yes’ to the Lord.”

The ordination marks a significant milestone for the global Jesus Youth movement, exemplifying a path of dedicated lay leadership and family life culminating in holy orders.
