Choice Program Receives Recognition in Kottayam Archdiocese: First Engagement Couple Gets Pre-Marriage Course Exemption
A joyful development has emerged in connection with the Jesus Youth Choice Program. A member named Alphy, who previously served as a full-timer and later as a Campus Coordinator in Kottayam, and is currently part of the Kottayam Archdiocese Jesus Youth team, celebrated his engagement today.
What makes this engagement particularly special is that both Alphy and his fiancée, Aleena, had participated together in the Choice Program.
In a significant first for the Kottayam Archdiocese, the certificate they received through the Choice Program was officially recognized as equivalent to the diocesan pre-marriage course. Based on this recognition, the archdiocese granted permission for their marriage without requiring them to attend an additional pre-marriage course.
This is reportedly the first such instance in the Kottayam Archdiocese, and it is not yet known whether similar practices are followed in other dioceses.
The development is being seen as a positive and encouraging milestone, serving as a sign that the Choice Program is receiving formal recognition even at the diocesan level. Members associated with the program have welcomed the news with great joy and gratitude.
