Stanley Rother Cup to Unite Youth Through Basketball, Faith, and Service

DENTON, TX — Youth from across the community are invited to take part in the *Stanley Rother Cup, a special basketball tournament celebrating the life and witness of *Blessed Stanley Rother, the Jubilee patron whose faith, courage, and missionary spirit continue to inspire Catholics around the world.

An American missionary and martyr, Blessed Stanley Rother dedicated his life entirely to God, remaining faithful to his mission even in the face of persecution. His joyful hope amid suffering and unwavering commitment to serving others embody the spirit of the Jubilee Year.

Adding a unique connection to the tournament, Blessed Stanley was once a basketball-loving student who played on the Catholic school court in Okarche, Oklahoma. In honor of that legacy, the Stanley Rother Cup will bring young people together through sports, fellowship, and faith.

The tournament is being organized in partnership with the St. Martin de Porres community as part of the local Jubilee celebrations. Beyond the competition on the court, the event will also serve as a fundraiser for Loreto House, a faith-based pregnancy and parenting center in Denton, Texas, which supports mothers, children, and families facing challenging circumstances.

Community members are encouraged to support the initiative and contribute to the mission of Loreto House through donations.
