A Special Supplement in Deepika News Paper

Kozhikode, March 14:
As part of the 25th anniversary remembrance of the young missionaries who lost their lives in the tragic Pookkiparambu Bus Tragedy, the Jesus Youth movement has brought out a special four-page supplement in the Deepika newspaper on March 14. The supplement, which is being circulated across the southern districts of Kerala, commemorates the missionary zeal and inspiring witness of the five Jesus Youth members who died in the accident.

The supplement highlights their lives, faith journey and commitment to evangelization, recalling how the young missionaries dedicated themselves to spreading the Gospel even at a very young age.

The remembrance gathering will be held at St. Thomas Auditorium, Koorachundu in Kozhikode, where the second edition of the book “Agnirathathil Eriyavar” (Those Who Rose in the Chariot of Fire) written by noted author and motivational speaker Jacob Kochery will also be released. The book is published by Kairos Media, the media wing of Jesus Youth.

During the function, a short video produced by Kairos Studio will be released, portraying the lives, missionary spirit and sacrifice of the five young Jesus Youth members whose witness continues to inspire generations.

Rev. Fr. Thomas Tharayil, Deputy Secretary of the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC), will deliver the keynote address. Sunny Gudino, India Coordinator of Jesus Youth, will receive the first copy of the book.

Members of Jesus Youth from across Kerala are expected to participate in the memorial gathering.

The Pookkiparambu Bus Tragedy occurred on March 11, 2001, when a bus carrying a team returning from an evangelization mission at Rajapuram parish in Idukki district overturned and caught fire. The accident claimed the lives of 44 people, including five members of the Jesus Youth movement.

The revised 120-page second edition of the book and the special newspaper supplement are being released to honour the memory of these young missionaries and to inspire a renewed commitment to missionary service among the youth.
