St. Dominic Savio College in Lucknow Denies Claims of Religious Discrimination Among Students

Lucknow, 16 April 2025: The management of St. Dominic Savio College, Lucknow, has firmly denied claims circulating on Facebook that the institution discriminated against students on religious grounds, leading to their detention in Class 11.

In an official statement, the College described the viral social media post as “misleading and disturbing,” clarifying that the decision to detain certain students was based purely on academic performance. According to the College, the students in question “have consistently underperformed throughout the academic year, showing little to no improvement despite repeated interventions.” It further noted that the detained students failed in almost all subjects, prompting the institution to take this step to help them strengthen their academic foundation.

Highlighting the diverse backgrounds of the students involved, the statement specified that the group included two Christian, three Muslim, and two Hindu students. “This clearly contradicts the narrative being spread,” the management added.

St. Dominic Savio College reaffirmed its commitment to equality, inclusivity, and respect for all religions, stating, “We categorically reject any form of discrimination and have always provided a nurturing environment for students of all faiths and backgrounds.”

Terming the attempt to “communalise a purely academic matter” as “deeply unfortunate and irresponsible,” the College urged individuals to refrain from spreading falsehoods and causing unnecessary unrest.

The institution concluded by reiterating its dedication to the academic and holistic well-being of all its students.
