Historic Milestone in Rome: Jesus Youth Marks 40th Anniversary with Papal Audience and Definitive Vatican Approval

ROME — In a landmark celebration of faith, unity, and global mission, the Jesus Youth movement concluded its historic GO Conference, held in Rome from October 20 to 25, 2026. The gathering brought together approximately 1,200 delegates representing 42 countries, marking a double milestone: the 40th year since the movement’s inception and the 10th anniversary of its initial Pontifical approval.

The summit was crowned by two momentous events for the international lay movement. During the conference, the Holy See officially announced the definitive approval of Jesus Youth’s revised statutes, cementing its enduring canonical standing within the universal Catholic Church.

The spiritual climax took place on October 24, when the delegates were granted a special Papal Audience at the Vatican. Addressing the gathering, the Holy Father commended the movement’s four-decade journey—from its origins in Kerala, India, to its worldwide presence today—and urged the delegates to sustain their apostolic fervor, missionary zeal, and commitment to serving young people and families across cultural boundaries.

Throughout the six-day conference, attendees engaged in keynote sessions, workshops, and communal prayer alongside numerous visiting bishops and ecclesiastical dignitaries. Extensively featured by international Catholic media and global news outlets, the GO Conference stands as an ecclesial milestone, equipping Jesus Youth for renewed evangelization and its upcoming Golden Jubilee.
