A HISTORIC MOMENT IN THE JOURNEY OF JESUS YOUTH

A moment to stand in humble wonder at the faithfulness of our God, whose promise from the earliest days of the movement — “I will lead you step by step” — has unfolded beautifully through forty years of grace, guiding us faithfully to this historic day.

From small beginnings to a movement spread across nations, cultures, and generations, the story of Jesus Youth has always been, at its heart, a story of God at work in ordinary lives. On 15 May 2016, the Pontifical Council for the Laity granted Jesus Youth the recognition as an International Private Association of the Faithful, with juridical personality, and approved its statutes ad experimentum. In ten years since the recognition by the Holy See, Jesus Youth has continued to grow, and to mature in ecclesial identity as an expression of ecclesial communion, striving to lead young people in missionary discipleship.

From a spark of the Spirit, when we celebrate our Ruby Jubilee, Jesus Youth enters a historic new chapter as the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life confirms the recognition of Jesus Youth as an international private association of the faithful with juridical personality and granted definitive approval of newly modified statues.

As we look toward the Great Jubilee of the Redemption in 2033 and the Golden Jubilee of Jesus Youth in 2035, we dream to become a movement whose life, communion and mission more clearly reveal Jesus Christ.

May the Holy Spirit lead us, may Mary accompany us, and may Jesus Christ remain the centre of everything we are and everything we do.
