Vellitharakavum Marakkurisum Released at KCBC Plenary Meeting
Ernakulam, December 11, 2025 — The latest book by His Excellency Dr. Alex Vadakkumthala, Bishop of the Kannur Diocese, titled Vellitharakavum Marakkurisum, was formally released during the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC) meeting held at the Pastoral Orientation Centre (POC), Ernakulam.
The release ceremony was officiated by the KCBC President, His Beatitude Moran Mar Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, who handed over the first copy of the book to His Grace Mar Andrews Thazhathu, Archbishop of Thrissur Diocese and President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI).
The event witnessed the presence of prominent Church leaders and media personalities. Published by Kairos Media, Vellitharakavum Marakkurisum is a collection of 33 spiritually rich reflections prepared for the seasons of Lent and Christmas. The book carries a foreword by the celebrated writer T. Padmanabhan, adding significant literary weight to the publication.
In another notable event held in Kannur, the book was formally presented by T. Padmanabhan to representatives of Kairali Books, acclaimed writer Vinoy Thomas, and several other distinguished guests. The function drew considerable attention from literary and cultural circles.
Vellitharakavum Marakkurisum marks the ninth book authored by Bishop Dr. Alex Vadakkumthala, further underscoring his contributions to spiritual writing and contemporary Christian thought.
