Jesus Youth Fulltimer Turns Jesuit: Bro. Savy George to Be Ordained Deacon

Bro. Savy George Thazhathuveettil, a former Jesus Youth Fulltimer who later joined the Society of Jesus, will be ordained as a deacon on 22 December 2025. The sacred ordination will be conferred by Bishop Mar Tony Neelankavil at 9.30 a.m. at the Vincentian Generalate, Edappally.

Bro. Savy George was part of the 22nd Batch of Jesus Youth Fulltimers, dedicating his early years to missionary service and leadership formation within the movement. After completing his period of fulltimership, he discerned a deeper call to religious life and subsequently joined the Jesuit seminary, beginning his formation in the Society of Jesus.

His journey stands as a testimony to faithful discernment and generous response to God’s call, inspiring many young people within the Jesus Youth movement and beyond.

The ordination ceremony is expected to be attended by priests, religious, family members, and friends, along with members of the Jesus Youth and Jesuit communities, who will gather to thank God for this significant milestone in Bro. Savy George’s vocation.

The diaconate marks an important step toward priesthood, as Bro. Savy George continues his formation and ministry in service of the Church.
