Christmas Sparks Day 10 Have you lost Christ?
Christmas season is always a pleasant memory, filled with lights, colourful garlands, decorated cribs, Christmas trees, and stars. The festive nights become even more beautiful when accompanied by soul-warming Christmas songs.
The first carol sung by the angels to the shepherds is still timeless today: ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those with whom he is pleased.’ However, the words of a famous preacher paints a sorry picture of the Christmas season of our times: ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth food and drink for men.’
Shouldn’t this day, commemorating the birth Jesus, the Prince of Peace, be a day of self-examination for us? Have we lost Christ in the rush to prepare mere feasts, entertainment, and decorations? Do you and I hear the Little Nazarene knocking on the door of our hearts with the question, ‘Will you give me a place to come and be born beyond the celebrations?’ Even if Baby Jesus is born in a thousand cribs, if He is not born in the crib of our heart, the Nazarene reminds us that all the celebrations are in vain.
Let’s transform our hearts into another crib.
Heartfelt Christmas wishes to everyone.
