Abbey Fest 2026: A Tribute to Beloved Jesna Thomas and Jesus Youth Philadelphia Music Ministry

This past weekend, September 19, Jesus Youth Philadelphia had a landmark moment as the JY Philadelphia Music Ministry performed live at Abbey Fest 2026, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s annual music festival. The JY music ministry was blessed to be among an incredible lineup of artists, including Br. Isaiah CFR, Sarah Kroger, and many others. It was a great privilege for Jesus Youth to take the stage and lead the crowd in worship through music.

Jesus Youth Northeast also turned out in great numbers to support and participate in this beautiful festival, which seeks to bring people closer to Christ through the gift of music and worship. The festival was also honored by the presence of Archbishop Nelson Pérez of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, who celebrated Holy Mass for the festival attendees.

One of the most heartfelt moments of the evening was a special recognition given by Abbey Fest to Thomas Payapilly and his family in memory of beloved Jesna Thomas. Jesna was a frequent volunteer and generous supporter of Abbey Fest over the years, and her unwavering spirit of generosity and love for the Lord continues to inspire so many.

We give thanks to God for the gift of Jesna’s life and for the beautiful witness she gave through her generosity, love, and service. It was especially meaningful to see her family honored at a festival that she supported so generously.
