JY USA Launches Alpha Crucis: A New Ministry of Hope and Support for Families of Children with Disabilities
In this Jubilee Year, JY USA is honored and deeply grateful to announce the launch of a new ministry within the Jesus Youth family: Alpha Crucis — a grace-filled initiative dedicated to accompanying and supporting individuals and families of children with disabilities.
The ministry emerged from years of prayer, reflection, and discernment, inspired by the experiences of many families within the community. Parents of children with disabilities have often quietly carried unique challenges, sometimes waiting in parking lots during church events, missing Mass, or stepping away from faith gatherings to care for their children. Recognizing these realities, the Jesus Youth community felt called to respond with greater compassion and support.
Named after Alpha Crucis, the brightest star in the Southern Cross, the ministry reflects the belief that every person with a disability shines with unique dignity, beauty, and purpose. Rooted in faith and accompaniment, Alpha Crucis seeks to create a space of connection, understanding, and encouragement for families navigating developmental, learning, and additional support needs.
The ministry welcomes individuals with diverse needs, parents and caregivers, professionals and educators, and spiritual leaders seeking support, community, and hope.

Reflecting the spirit of the ministry, the words of Henri Nouwen continue to inspire its mission:

The mystery of ministry is that we have been chosen to make our own limited and very conditional love the gateway for the unlimited and unconditional love of God.”
Through Alpha Crucis, JY USA hopes to become a welcoming presence where families experience faith, belonging, and the unconditional love of God.
