Christmas Sparks Day 20 All Roads Lead Home
The phrase ‘At Christmas all roads lead home’ is something I read somewhere. For the past few months, I have been working with a friend of English descent who has roots in India. This friend is currently traveling back to their homeland. When I asked about their plans, they mentioned that, for Christmas, their siblings and families would be gathering at their parents’ place. Brothers from different parts of the UK and a younger sibling currently in India are rushing to be with their parents this Christmas.
The meaning of the phrase ‘ At Christmas, all roads lead home’ may not be very familiar to us, but in foreign cultures, Christmas is a day when everyone, no matter how far they are, come together. Christmas is indeed a time of reunion. This Christmas, you and I also have
homes we need to return to.
The angels of mercy invite us to some of these homes. We may have once left these places, promising never to go back. But now, with an invitation to return and the bond that has always connected us, the one who left everything behind has come back.
Somewhere, there is someone waiting for us, and that realisation is the message of Christmas.
