Br. Benedict Ordained a Priest at Portsmouth Abbey

Portsmouth, Rhode Island — May , 2025: Br. Benedict, a monk of Portsmouth Abbey, was ordained to the sacred priesthood on May 2 at the Portsmouth Abbey Monastery Church. The ordination was officiated by Bishop Elias R. Lorenzo, O.S.B.

Fr. Benedict hails from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and has been an active member of the Jesus Youth movement for several years. His journey to priesthood has been deeply rooted in a life of prayer, community, and missionary zeal.

The Portsmouth Abbey community, along with friends and well-wishers, gathered in joy to witness the solemn rite. The newly ordained priest will continue his ministry at the monastery, living out the Benedictine charism in service to God and the Church.
